This cosplay (along with Starfire)....let me tell you. I had moments where I wanted to cry and throw in the towel. It was my first time not only using spandex, but also making a catsuit of some sort. The abdomen and sleeve portions were each cut into strips and the sewn together to give those lines (make it more armor like). It was also my first time making resin casts AND armor pieces. So it was a first time for pretty much everything. But, in the end, it came out way better than I expected and probaly some of my best work to date.

We both decided not to use black fabric for Blackfire. Now, before everyone goes 'BUT BLACKFIRE IS SUPPOSE TO WEAR BLACK. IT'S IN HER NAME!!!', let me explain. The coloring for the TV can be interpreted different ways because of the animation style (ex. Many cosplayers use purple over blue for Raven's cape). So while many see black, we saw a sheen of purple in her outfit and her hair. We wanted to go with a dark purple not only for this reason, but also we felt since the Tamaraneans (both in the show and in the comics) wore purple as a signature color, we felt that Blackfire should also have that connection. Thus, we found a lovely dark purple fabric and wig and went with it. We are very happy with our choices!
